These microcredentials are open to individuals who meet the following requirements:

• Experience: At least three years of work or volunteer experience, which can be non-consecutive and completed in Canada or abroad. This experience must be outside of full-time or part-time studies (high school or post-secondary).
• Language: Proficiency in English (see ºÚÁÏÉç English Language Requirements)
• Work Eligibility: Must be legally permitted to work in Canada. Work permit holders should have at least one year remaining on their permit after the start of the upskilling program.

Inclusivity Commitment

We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including women, Indigenous peoples, racialized individuals, and persons with disabilities. To support this commitment, registration fees are waived for 250 participants (25% of the 1,000 funded seats) from equity-deserving groups. Each microcredential has also been carefully reviewed by equity-informed advisors to help ensure accessibility and inclusivity.

They offer a fast and affordable way to enhance your qualifications, boost your career prospects, or transition into new roles. Unlike traditional programs, microcredentials are highly targeted, allowing you to focus on practical skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace.

Microcredentials are particularly valuable in rapidly changing industries, helping you stay competitive and adapt to evolving job market needs. Additionally, they can be “stackable,” meaning they can be combined with other certifications or formal education to build a more comprehensive skill set over time.

Each microcredential was co-created by a group of colleges and institutes across Canada, working closely with industry experts, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This collaborative approach ensures that the programs address real skills gaps identified in high-growth sectors like clean technology, advanced manufacturing, and agricultural technology.

Industry input was critical to designing the curriculum, ensuring that the skills taught are exactly what employers need.
